Introduce your route:

Can you pedal, balance and brake, but are a bit nervous about going out on the road? Or perhaps you’ve had a break and are a bit rusty. If so then this ride is for you. Led by trained ride leaders, the ride will be at the pace of the slowest and we will help you if you need it. We shall explore the area around Kenton Recreation Ground and you may discover new places.

If you need to hire a bike this can be done for a cost of £5 by filling in the relevant form:

If you hire a bike, message the ride leader as soon as you have booked, and at least a week before the ride, to let them know. Please arrive 15 minutes before the meeting time.

Children over 8 are welcome on the ride though a supervising adult must ride with them.

Kind of roads you'll be riding:

The route is via traffic-free cycle tracks and quiet streets, although there are a few moments in traffic.

Stops on the way:

We will pause briefly along the way.

What to bring:

Bring a water bottle, and snacks if you might need some energy.

Tour: Chelmsford to Clacton-on-Sea

This post describes a 3-day cycle tour from Chelmsford to Clacton-on-Sea staying overnight in Colchester and Felixstowe. Just add a start date and book your hotels. Specific timings assume a Monday to Wednesday tour in 2026 so your own train times may be different. An average of 300m ascent over 61km each day on average means this is a relatively flat tour with options to reduce the mileage each day by using the train.    The route makes heavy use of NCN 1 and NCN 51, and if you keep moving on the last day you should have time for a dip in the sea!! Seriously, prepare to enjoy a swim at Holland-on-Sea. Organised Rides

Here are a number of Ready-made bike rides with the information required to advertise scheduled rides on British Cycling's Let's Ride platform or other sites. If using Let's Ride then have the necessary text, photo and GPX file ready to copy in to their form because at the time of writing the platform can clear some data fields when updating the photo or the GPX file. Separate pages exist for each ride with the information presented as Let's Ride expects.
