HCH Annual Ride Schedule

The ride schedule will usually be tied to an  event external to HCH and subject to the timings of those events. Ride leaders will post rides on Let's Ride on an ad hoc basis; the list below includes events that require elements of both ride coordination and event management.  Easter Ride World Bicycle Day World Bicycle Day is celebrated every year on June 3rd. The United Nations declared this official day in April 2018 to honor the bicycle's history, longevity, and usefulness. Bike Week This is a cycling UK event. We usually run a ride every day of the week and may include an evening ride with the possibility of a pub stop. London Cycling Festival  This is a London Cycling Campaign event. HCH have participated since 2025 and from 2026 have had to use LCC booking systems.  Ley Hill Classic Car Show Typically in August HCH organises two rides to converge on this show as it makes for a special day. Leading Beginner Bike Rides

Taking beginners out for a bike ride - whilst very rewarding - requires a little more attention. This is especially true if you don't know the riders, their capabilities and their levels of road confidence. These notes assume you will follow normal British Cycling best practice. Compared to a ride with experienced riders whose capabilities you know your focus is more about encouragement and reassurance.  Be flexible and respond to the riders who turn up as you may have riders who have just learnt to ride or riders who have built up riding fitness and confidence and need a ride that confirms they can move on to 10-mile rides. The Route 1. Five miles is long enough to be rewarding for riders and short enough to be a manageable distance using water breaks as required 2. Canons Park Picnic 2026

This post provides the 2026 text required by the London Cycle Campaign (LCC) for it's London Cycle Festival. Harrow Cycle Hub (HCH) need to provide this for rides to the Canons Park picnic where the HCH riders will converge. Ride Leader Instructions   If you are a leading a ride please provide updates to the ride specific information to rides@harrowcyclehub.org  Risk Management General Guidance  Where the ride follows LCC protocols a single Risk Assessment may cover all rides. 1. Each ride leader needs to check the standard risks and mitigations cover their ride; anything not covered probably suggests a redesigned route is required. 2. LCC require competent ride leaders and assistants which can be ensured by using BC or LCC trained leaders and assistants. 3. The Risk Assessment should be agreed by at least two people.  4.
